“TO PROVIDE, THROUGH KIWANIS CLUBS, A PRACTICAL MEANS TO FORM ENDURING FRIENDSHIPS, TO RENDER ALTRUISTIC SERVICE, AND TO BUILD BETTER COMMUNITIES”
The members of Oakland Park Kiwanis continually strive to incorporate the six objects of Kiwanis International into every service project, whether it is a usual weekly effort, a scheduled monthly task, an annual activity, or one of our ongoing Service Leadership Projects
Take a glance at our “Projects & Events” tab. We provide weekend backpacks of food for families of elementary school students, read to the youngsters, provide dictionaries to third-graders, landscape their schoolyard, entertain homeless families with holiday parties, provide pet therapy at a children’s nursing home, visit with residents of a local assisted living residence, and provide a “kanal klean-up” to our community. These are but a few of our ongoing service projects !
Members collect tabtops, ink cartridges, cellphones, empty medicine bottles, plastic lids, and plastic bags, all to help organizations and schools in our community so they may provide more and better service.
Scheduled community speakers educate our members and provide additional opportunities for service ideas. Our members regularly attend Kiwanis training courses to ensure we are the best we can be.
Check out our website and our facebook pages. Notice all photos are of smiling, happy people having a good time ! My predecessor, Rick Melillo, notes our “family feeling of satisfaction” when accomplishing a goal. Rick is right. I invite you to come to one of our breakfast or dinner meetings so that you may introduce yourself to our very special Kiwanis club.
